National Lamb Feeders Leadership School
2019 - Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
- Introduce the attendees to the Pennsylvania lamb industry, touring and evaluating: growing and raising operations, feeding operations, sale barns, research facilities and programs, etc.
- Introduce the participants to National and State industry organizations; providing information and details about the different organizations, how they work together to benefit the industry, how they are funded and how to get involved and become leaders in the organizations.
- Provide leadership "training" – in functional areas such as spokesperson/media training, lobbying 101, how to use social media to advocate for the lamb industry, etc.
Each year the participants of the school are asked to fill out a program survey reviewing the program and training, including providing information about the value of programing and how they will use the information learned in their own operations and businesses. Each year the program receives glowing reviews with participants using information from the operations and businesses toured to make improvements with their own operations. They also note learning more about how the industry works, information on sales and marketing, consumer trends, is valuable and not offered in other programs. Through these surveys and other industry feedback the NLFA believes the program provides a great deal of value for the industry with its training and educations focus.
